Carmel Beach Fire Rules

Carmel Beach is a treasure that needs to be protected.
Beach fires have turned once white sand gray.
The goal is to return the beach to pristine condition.
Please help us by following simple rules for beach fires.

NOT ALLOWED:

Burn wood fires on the sand
Burn wood fires in any device
Use charcoal in any device
Use tiki torches
Leave your trash on the beach

You can be fined up to $1,000!

Types of Legal Fires

No Fires on the Sand

You cannot build wood fires on the sand.

No Tiki Torches

You cannot use tiki torches anywhere.

No Charcoal

You cannot use charcoal in any device.

No Trash

You cannot leave your trash on the beach.

ONLY Propane Fires in User-provided Device

The wood fires in City-provided devices has been eliminated. So you CANNOT have any type of wood fires on Carmel Beach at this time. You CAN use your own propane device, including propane BBQ’s.

4:00 PM TO 10:00 PM daily
WHERE?

From 10th Ave south to Martin Way

Propane Fire Device Rules

Device must be located at least 25 feet from the bluff/hillside
No charcoal grilling is allowed.
Do not leave anything in the sand when done.
Always be cautious with large propane tanks on stairs.
Haul your trash out. Leave no trace behind.
